In Which Sandy Teaches Deev a Very Important Lesson

During the blustery weather that heralded Hurricane Sandy's imminent arrival, John & I sawed off a limb that was in danger of taking off siding.  He'd saw, then I would, then back to him, then back to me.

We were buffeted with wind & pelted with rain (would have been so much simpler if I'd only thought of it when the skies were sunny & bright), but at least It was easy going - well, at first. But the deeper the cut, the more difficult it became.

There were times that the brand new Craftsman saw got wedged into the cut.  It became difficult, arduous, frustrating.  Then we realized that the only way we were going to get it DONE was with a light, but persistent, touch.

That's where I am, right now, in my life changes.  Almost there.  Almost. But it seems like its harder than ever to making headway, like I get stuck in places where I can't move.  It's oh so tempting to give into feelings of frustration & "I thought this should have been DONE by now!"

Have to remember - apply a light, persistent touch with the right tool, one cuts clean when properly used.  Keep going until its won & done!

Day 1 - 37 Days of Haiku

There was a reason...

... I didn't think to use this blog for the Serendipity, our joint summer art show in the artist colony of Lambertville, NJ ~ it's perfect for recording all the joy that awaits me as I cultivate my next-step activities, especially around Creativity Out Your Fingertips.

As I peer down the road, unable to see far due to intriguing twists & turns, am reminded of that great poster from many years ago - OPEN  YOUR  MIND  &  SAY  "AWE!"

Blast!

THIS would have been the perfect blog for writing things related to the upcoming show!!  Then again - guess it wasn't, or I would have used it.  WHY did I go with "mise en place" instead of this???  Excellent, unanswerable question...

Stephanie in Williamsburg

As in Stephanie Rose in the Williamsburg section of Brooklyn.  As of this fall.

Will miss her - she's a grand gal, Len & Jamie's daughter - but what fun to be rooming with Emily Werner (Soni's daughter, who heads up catering for a mega NYC chef) and Sarah Rose (Stan & Liz's), who's a producer for online "spots."  Bryn Athyn's loss will be Brooklyn's gain!!

Things are Often NOT What I Expected

Was looking super forward to taking Creative Awakenings Facilitator & Mentor training this fall.

Then I got the information packet.

First of all, it flat-out irked me that there was so much info before any mention of cost.  Just didn't set well with me.

And the cost - oh my!  Way out of my ball park.  Especially since I sort of feel like I sort of do sort of alright without any formal training, even if horses are involved.

Let's see - was expecting to get an wonderful new oven range & companion microwave;  that turned out alright, but certainly not as I expected.

Was expecting to go to Blogher 2012, but those plans were unexpectedly bumped by plans to attend the Creative Awakenings training.

Creative Awakenings training...  Well, already discussed the unexpected realization there.

Lots of unexpected twists & turns.  Part of what makes life an adventure!  Where WILL it all take me next??
